The bridge separating Zimbabwe from Zambia.....

Robert Mugabe has ruled the country since 1980 when they declared their independence from Great Britain. That was when the country changed its name from Southern Rodesia to Zimbabwe. Cecil Rhodes instigated the British colony in 1923.
Arriving at the lodge on the Zambezi River.....
A view from my room......
My neighbors in the river......
This was the 4th largest river in Africa.....

In 1980 there has been a downward spiral of government. In 1998 the infaltion was at 32%. It ran up to 11 million % in 2008. The hyperinflation rate created a 100billion dollar bill. Now the US dollar is the official currency. You can get the US $ from the ATM machines. The government has limited the currency withdrawal to $200/day. The Chinese have been depleating the ATM's and the banks of all of the US dollars.

Victoria Falls is the main attraction in Zimbabwe. It was named a World Heritage Site in 1989.
It covers the Zambia/Zimbabwe border. The Scottish expolorer , David Livingstone named it "The Smoke that Thunders".
